Welcome to Chalet Vaia!

About where you will be staying..

Digby and Mary have a south-facing downstairs room for you with a comfortable double bed.

Although this is a chalet room, there are a lot of Japanese touches in the decor - a kind of Alps meets Mount Fuji!

There is a private bathroom / shower for you and a separate downstairs loo.

Of course, you are welcome to share the living/dining room and there's a cosy log-fire for those chilly evenings.

You can keep skis and boots in the basement and there's off-road parking.

We provide a generous continental breakfast and can recommend places to eat in the village or in Samoens.

If you prefer to vere away from the traditional Savoyard fare and wish to experience Mary's passion for cooking - Asian, Middle Eastern, vegetarian, vegan etc. - we can cater for evening meals, by arrangement. Please ask!

We can also pack sandwiches for the slopes or mountain hikes, with advance notice.

About your hosts, Mary and Digby

We work from home, enjoy meeting people and are well-travelled and multi-lingual - English, Japanese, French, Italian and German are spoken. Between us we have a wide range of interests including mountain walking, T'ai-chi, yoga, cooking - especially Asian food - ski touring, playing jazz piano, music of all kinds. We'd like to share our good knowledge of the walks and the ski area and can recommend local equipment hire too.
